How to Make Your Own Gift Basket

Gift baskets are an excellent gift for almost any occasion because they are unique and personalized gifts, and you can almost guarantee that they do not get returned or duplicated. Creating your own gift basket is fun, easy and cost effective.
First: Select items to go in the gift basket that are appropriate for the occassion
Select appropriate gifts along a theme or color pattern. For example, if you are buying for a wedding, consider a gift basket of picnic themed items, or items all in the wedding party's colors. If it is a housewarming gift, consider a basket of kitchen gadgets which you have found useful. Make sure that the items you select come in a variety of shapes and sizes so that the gift basket is visually interesting.
Second: Buy basket making supplies
Begin by selecting a basket you like. It is alright if the basket is too big, but try not to get one that is too small. You also need tissue paper, basket grass, cellophane and ribbon.
Third: Fill the basket, in much the same way that you design a flower arrangement
When creating a flower arrangement, you start at the back, where the tallest flowers are, and work your way forward to the shortest flowers. This is equally true of a gift basket. After filling the base of the basket with tissue paper and basket grass, begin arranging items in the basket so that everything is at least partially visible and it fans out and up like a flower arrangement. Tape items to both one another and the basket so that they stay in position.
Fourth: Finalize the basket
Tie a bow to the basket's handle, if it has a large handle on top, or tape it to the side of the basket if there is no handle. If you want to, wrap the basket in cellophane, and tie the cellophane shut with a ribbon.
